Celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Baltic Way

On Saturday, 23 August 2014, the Baltic States celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Baltic Way. Throughout the Baltic States, a number of events were devoted to the largest and the most significant campaign conducted in the Baltic States - the Baltic Way.

The Baltic Assembly was organising several events to mark the 25th anniversary of the Baltic Way. Earlier this year, essay competition for secondary school pupils What does the Baltic Way mean to me? was held. The aim of the competition was to motivate the youth to get involved in political, economic and social processes, raise their interest in shared values and collective heritage. Essays of the winners are available here.

On 23 August 2014, at 11:30 in Tallinn, at 12:00 in Vilnius and at 12:00 in Rīga, parliamentarians of the Baltic Assembly planted the Baltic Unity Tree.
