On 5-6 April 2024, the Members of the Baltic Assembly and the national parliaments will meet at the Basketball Tournament in Birštonas, Lithuania. This year the Basketball Tournament will be held for the 17th time. Three games will take place in the context of the tournament: the first one will be between the Lithuanian and Latvian teams of parliamentarians, the second – between the Lithuanian and Estonian teams, and the last game will take place between the Latvian and Estonian teams. Afterwards, the winner of the Baltic Assembly Cup 2024 will be announced by Vydas Gedvilas, President of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation.
The main aim and a brief history of the Basketball tournament
The main aim of the Basketball tournament of the Baltic Assembly is to support and strengthen the cooperation between parliamentarians of the Baltic States and popularise physical activities and a healthy lifestyle in society. See the Regulations. In 2023, the winner of the Basketball tournament was the team of the Parliament of Latvia.
