On 4-5 November 2021 in Vilnius (Lithuania), parliamentarians and governmental representatives of the Baltic states will meet for the 40th Session of the Baltic Assembly to discuss current affairs, cooperation of the Baltic states in reopening the region, energy security in the Baltics and role of the Baltic states in addressing the security challenges near the external borders of the EU.
Alongside the Session of the Baltic Assembly, the 27th Baltic Council, a cooperation platform for parliaments and governments, will be convened. Members of the Baltic Assembly jointly with representatives of the Baltic Council of Ministers will evaluate the implementation of the joint priorities of 2021 and will define objectives of cooperation for 2022.
During the Session, the Baltic Assembly Prizes for Literature, the Arts and Science as well as the Baltic Innovation Prize will be awarded. winners of the Baltic Assembly Prize in 2021 are Vahur Afanasjev (Laanoja) (1979-2021) (Estonia) in Literature, Ginta Gerharde-Upeniece (Latvia) in the Arts and Virginijus Šikšnys (Lithuania) in Science.
