Baltic Assembly Prizes and Medals Award Ceremony 2024 – honouring cooperation and excellence


On 17 October 2024, the Baltic Assembly Prizes and Medals Award Ceremony took place at the historic Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. The event is a celebration of exceptional achievements in literature, the arts, science, and innovation, as well as a tribute to individuals who have significantly contributed to the unity and cooperation of the Baltic States.

The winners of the Baltic Assembly Prize in 2024 were Rein Raud (Estonia) in Literature, Dāvis Sīmanis (Latvia) in the Arts and Limas Kupčinskas (Lithuania) in Science. Read more about the winners here: https://baltasam.org/Winners-2024-BA-Prize

 

Baltic Assembly Medals

The Baltic Assembly Medals were awarded to individuals who have worked tirelessly to foster unity and collaboration across the Baltic States. The recipients this year are:

- H.E. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, for his heroic defense of Ukraine and European values in the fight for freedom, which also defends the independence of the Baltic States.

- Raimonds Bergmanis for his efforts to strengthen the security of the Baltic region.

- Ruth Kalda for her promotion of family medicine and medical education cooperation in the Baltic States.

- Venta Kocere for her contributions to cross-border cooperation among the Baltic States.

- Margus Konnula (known as Contra) for his work in literature and poetry, especially his translations and publications promoting Baltic cultural exchange.

- Toivo Tuberik for his role in organizing more than 100 concerts that have showcased Baltic musicians and composers since 2012.

- Romualdas Vaitkus for his dedicated contributions to the work of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee of the Baltic Assembly.

 

Baltic Innovation Prize

The Baltic Innovation Prize was awarded to Nando UAB, a biotechnology company specializing in high-value microbiological products and chemical additives for agriculture and industry. Nando is a leader in its field in the EU, with its products distributed across over 30 countries. The company exemplifies how innovation can drive both economic growth and sustainability in agriculture and industrial applications.

Additionally, nominees for the Baltic Innovation Prize are EAgronom OÜ, an Estonian climate-tech company supporting sustainable farming, and Invessel Ltd, a Latvian company specializing in high-quality aluminum boat construction.

This annual event underscores the Baltic Assembly's commitment to promoting cooperation and recognizing excellence in literature, the arts, science, and innovation. Each prize and medal awarded reflects the shared values and dedication of individuals and organizations working to strengthen the bonds among the Baltic States and their international partners.
