Meeting of the Economics, Energy and Innovation Committee to be held in Vilnius


On 5-6 February 2026, the meeting of the Economics, Energy and Innovation Committee will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania. The meeting will primarily discuss uniting the Baltic region in a digital age and enhancing the physical connectivity of the Baltic States. 

Uniting the Baltic region in a digital age: speeding up transformation and smart growth

Chaired by Marek Reinaas, Chair of the Economics, Energy and Innovation Committee, the first session of the meeting will focus on uniting the Baltic region in a digital age by speeding up transformation and smart growth. This will involve discussions on the potential of developing a Baltic smart region and cross-border digital infrastructures. Additionally, Lars Püss, Member of the Committee for Growth and Development in the Nordic Region, will share international experience from the Nordic Council side.

Enhancing the physical connectivity of the Baltic States for further regional integration

The second session of the meeting, chaired by Marek Reinaas, will touch on enhancing the physical connectivity of the Baltic States for further regional integration. Discussions will include the current challenges for further enhancing physical connectivity, whether that be through the digital area, transport, or energy, and how to jointly strengthen it. More insight will be given by Marko Kivila, Chairperson of the Management Board and CEO of “RB Rail”, who will provide a status update on the Rail Baltica project. Additionally, Reinis Āboltiņš, energy market analyst and researcher, will report on the energy cooperation of the Baltic States.

Additionally, meetings will also take place for the Presidium and the Budget and Audit Committee of the Baltic Assembly.
