Meeting of the Health, Welfare and Family Committee to be held in Tallinn


On 28 March 2025, the Meeting of the Health, Welfare and Family Committee will be held in Tallinn, Estonia. During the meeting, parliamentarians will discuss enhancing healthcare through data exchange and cooperation to promote joint medical procurements and building-up reserves in healthcare. 

Health without borders: enhancing healthcare through data exchange in the Baltic States

Chaired by Antoņina Ņenaševa, Chair of the Health, Welfare and Family Committee, discussions will include the current status of cross-border healthcare data exchange in the Baltic States and how to develop it further. This part of the meeting will also delve into patient mobility and the interoperability of e-Health systems.

An introductory report will be given by Jukka Lähesmaa, Senior Advisor from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health of Finland. The meeting will also feature insights from governmental representatives of the Baltic States who will discuss their respective countries' positions.

Cooperation of the Baltic States to promote joint medical procurements and building-up reserves in healthcare

Antoņina Ņenaševa will continue chairing the second session regarding joint medical procurements and building-up reserves in healthcare. Discussions will include the     joint cooperation of the Baltic States to improve procurement efficiency and affordability of medicines in the region and building strategic healthcare reserves.

A status update will be provided by Eveli Bauer, Procurement and Warehouse Service Manager from the Estonian Health Insurance Fund. Adding a broader perspective, Truls Vasvik from the Nordic Council will share experiences from the Nordic countries.
