Baltic Assembly to attend the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament

On 20-21 March 2025, the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament will be held in Strasbourg, France. The main themes of the conference touch on challenges that are prevalent today, including safeguarding democracy, freedom of expression and violence against politicians.

Speakers and presidents of parliament from the 46 member states of the Council of Europe and many partners, observers and neighbouring countries, as well as the heads of several interparliamentary assemblies, will attend the event.

The first European Conference of Presidents of Parliament was held in 1975, meaning that this year it marks its 50th anniversary. It takes place every two years, hosted alternately in Strasbourg and the capital of a Council of Europe member state.

At the conference, the Baltic Assembly will be represented by the President of the Baltic Assembly Jānis Vucāns, who will also provide a speech during the meeting on safeguarding democracy.
