On 29 May 2026, the Presidium of the Baltic Assembly met in Pärnu, Estonia, and adopted the statement "On Holding Russia Accountable for the Consequences of Its Aggression in Europe." The members of the Presidium standing in firm support of Ukraine and holding Russia accountable for the consequences of its aggression in Europe,
underlined that Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine poses a direct and enduring threat to European security, including to NATO’s Eastern Flank, which must be urgently and substantially strengthened;
acknowledged that repeated incursions of military drones into the airspace of the Baltic States and Finland are escalating security risks and raising serious concerns about the spillover of Russia’s war against Ukraine beyond its borders;
strongly condemned Russia’s deliberate false claims and threats against Ukraine and the Baltic States as attempts to deflect responsibility for its crimes and conceal the devastating consequences of its aggression;
emphasised that Ukraine’s NATO accession would strengthen the entire Alliance as Ukraine is no longer only a security recipient, and its technology and expertise already strengthen Allied security;
called on NATO and EU countries to stand united in providing military, political and humanitarian support to Ukraine and resolute against Russia’s attacks, false narratives, and deliberate attempts to deflect responsibility for its crimes and aggression.
