The meeting of the Consultative Council of the Baltic Assembly will take place on 20 September 2024 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The meeting will bring together the Members of the Presidium, Chairs, and Vice Chairs of the Committees of the Baltic Assembly to discuss key issues and set priorities for the future.
The meeting will begin with a debate on the work of the Committees of the Baltic Assembly in 2024, focusing on the progress, obstacles, and challenges encountered in the parliamentary cooperation among the Baltic States. This session will include the approval of overviews on the work of the Presidium and the Committees, with introductory remarks from President of the Baltic Assembly Andrius Kupčinskas, and presentations by the Chairs of various committees.
The participants will review the draft documents for the 43rd Session of the Baltic Assembly. These documents include the final resolution, decisions on leadership, the budget for 2025, and reports on the implementation of the 2023 budget. The draft resolution will be approved for submission to the upcoming session.
The Council will also focus on the priorities and agenda of the Baltic Assembly under the Latvian presidency for 2025, including approval of the working plan of the Baltic Assembly in 2025. This session will feature introductory remarks from Vice President of the Baltic Assembly Jānis Vucāns, and presentations on the priorities of each committee by their respective Vice Chairs.
Under Lithuania’s presidency in 2024, the Baltic Assembly emphasized the theme „Growing Strong and Resilient Together“, reflecting the united stance of the Baltic region amid ongoing challenges, including the war in Ukraine. The key priorities for 2024 focused on enhancing security, fostering innovation and sustainability, and maintaining unity in facing regional challenges.
