On 7-8 February 2022, the members of the Baltic Assembly will visit the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and meet the CERN Baltic Group. During the visit, the parliamentarians will learn more about CERN and its work as well as will discuss the cooperation of the Baltic states with the organisation.
The delegation of the Baltic Assembly consists of President of the Baltic Assembly Jānis Vucāns, Vise Presidents Aadu Must and Andrius Kupčinskas, Members of the Presidium Inese Voika, Sven Sester and Orinta Leiputė and Chair of the Economics, Energy and Innovation Committee Reinis Znotiņš.
The cooperation of the Baltic Assembly and CERN began in January 2020 when during the meeting of the Education, Science and Culture Committee one of the topics discussed was "CERN: cooperation of the Baltic states". Since then cooperation of the Baltic states and CERN is high on the agenda of the Baltic Assembly.
