Members of the Security and Defence Committee meet to discuss challenges in the Eastern Border of the EU

On 21 January 2022, the meeting of the Security and Defence Committee of the Baltic Assembly will be held in Riga, Latvia. During the meeting, parliamentarians will focus on the security and defence challenges in the Baltic region and discuss such topics as the existing and future challenges in addressing the security challenges in the EU's eastern border. Another topic discussed will be the cooperation of the Baltic states in combatting organised crime, as well as the assessment of the situation and joint activities to address modern challenges. Lastly, joint actions by the Baltic Council of Ministers concerning implementation of recommendations of the Baltic Assembly regarding external border control and management, civil protection and disaster preparedness in cross-border cooperation and practical response for increasing the resilience of the Baltic society will be evaluated.
